This is the single most effective and popular medical aesthetic procedure in the world. Botox injection treatments can erase lines and wrinkles, improve facial contour and improve eye shape in a matter of days, without the need for surgery.
At Ancaster Rejuvenate™ we provide professional and comprehensive skin assessments by physician and nurse or certified medial aesthetician. This is a challenging procedure to get right, and extensive experience and artistic approach of our trained professionals are necessary to ensure that you will not get the “frozen” look but will look naturally refreshed and wrinkle free.
What does Botox treat?
Lines and wrinkles:
- crows feet (smile lines)
- frown lines
- forehead lines
- bunny lines (nose)
- marionette lines (mouth to chin lines)
- mouth lines (smokers lines)
- Shaping and contouring:
- eye brow lift/upper eye bag lift
- jaw line shaping
- turning up corners of the mouth
- nasal flaring and raising the nasal tip
- dimpling of the chin
- aging neck
Botox can also treat some other conditions like excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), a gummy smile or grinding teeth, and severe migraines.
How does Botox work?
First the muscles to be treated are identified by asking patients to make specific facial expressions. Then the muscles causing the undesired wrinkles are injected with a very fine needle. Botox blocks the nerve impulses and the treated muscles and overlying skin relax with time, erasing the wrinkles.
Does Botox treatment hurt?
The treatment takes 5-10 minutes and is relatively painless. As an option, we can use a numbing cream that can further reduce any discomfort from injection. Some of our patients have commented that the injection sensation is similar to acupuncture or eyebrow waxing, and many found the whole experience quite relaxing.
How long do the effects last?
The results of the treatment become apparent after 2-7 days and can take up to 14 days in some patient. The Botox effect should last about 3-4 months. If the patient returns for regular follow-up treatments, the muscles reduce in size gradually and in time the effect can last much longer. The latest research has shown that when patients have undergone Botox treatments for a few years, the wrinkles are erased permanently.
Is it safe?
Botox is a organic protein that is produced from bacterial sources through very safe and highly effective purification process. Since the early 1970s it has been used in treating various conditions in neurology and ophthalmology and then in aesthetic medicine.
In the last 30 years there have not been any reports of serious allergic reactions with Botox use. This treatment is considered local (i.e., works at injection site and does not spread to other areas of the body), non-permanent and very safe.
Does it look natural?
The overwhelming feedback from patients treated by our medial director Dr. Julia Shcherbatykh is that they are thrilled with their new natural and younger looks. Most of our clients tell us that nobody (including their partners!) ever realizes that they had any kind of cosmetic treatment and that they are told they look very healthy and fresh. We pride ourselves to take a individual and personalized approach to each patient with Botox, therefore always striving to avoid the dreaded frozen and dropping effects, and always giving our patients the desired naturally youthful look.
Are there are side effects?
Side effects are not very common with Botox treatments, and even if they happen they tend to be short-term. For about one hour after the treatment patient may have small red bumps at the site of the injections, but these fade within 1 hour, really making this a “lunchtime” treatment. Headaches, slight bruising, tightness and heaviness are rare side-effects but all of these usually resolve within a matter of days.
You can return to normal activities afterwards but avoid rubbing the treated area, carrying out strenuous physical activities, or drinking alcohol. As part of our aftercare service we offer a review and top-up (if required) 2 weeks later, so that all of our clients are confident and pleased with the results of the treatment.
